Caring for your family’s memories on older media can be overwhelming. But this doesn’t have to be the case. Understanding what you have and how to care for it will empower you to make informed decisions on how to proceed.

In this workshop, archivists from Moving Image Preservation of Puget Sound will demystify the reels and cassettes sitting on shelves and tucked away in boxes. The instructors will offer hands-on opportunities to become familiar with a variety of formats. Participants will learn to identify and store their tapes, considerations to make when digitizing tapes at KCLS, properly care for digital files, and share their memories with friends and family using simple DIY techniques.
