CALL FOR SUPPORT

MIPoPS needs our community’s support now.

MIPoPS helps organizations and individuals preserve moving image and sound materials that are deteriorating, becoming obsolete, or at risk of becoming inaccessible. The need for this work isn’t slowing down, but right now, MIPoPS needs greater financial stability to ensure we can continue doing it.

One of our most immediate goals is to build approximately $66,000 in operating reserves, equal to about six months of expenses.

Why does that matter? Much of MIPoPS’ funding doesn’t arrive at the same time the work happens. Many grants reimburse us only after expenses have already been paid, and preservation projects can require months of staff work before a client can be fully invoiced.

That means MIPoPS can have committed funding and active client work underway and still experience periods when there isn’t enough cash on hand to comfortably cover the work happening today.

A strong reserve changes that.

It means our staff can count on being paid. Our clients can trust that we’ll have the stability to see their preservation projects through. And MIPoPS can make thoughtful decisions about new projects, partnerships, and growth without every reimbursement or client payment creating a financial crisis.

At the same time, we’re working to strengthen MIPoPS for the future by expanding fee-for-service partnerships, pursuing new funding, and building the leadership capacity the organization needs.

The materials we preserve won’t wait, and neither can the infrastructure that makes preservation possible.

We’re asking you, the people who believe in MIPoPS and the histories we protect, to help us build the financial foundation this work needs to continue.
